What is Clubhouse?

You may be wondering what “Clubhouse” is and how it works, the social network everyone is talking about these days…

Clubhouse is a live platform developed by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, former employees of Pinterest and Google. It is a social network where people come together to discuss a variety of topics using audio only.

There are no comments or written messages: all interaction is voice-based and nothing is recorded.

How does Clubhouse work?

Unlike other more famous social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, the only content on Clubhouse consists of audio tracks; it is like a huge podcast container. To join, you must be at least 18 years old, own an iPhone and be invited.

There is another interesting factor, especially nowadays: respect for privacy.

On Clubhouse, people simply talk in open, closed or social “rooms”, which can be divided by topics and groups of participants. The moderator plays a fundamental role because it is up to them to give the floor to a new guest, who is still “muted” when they first enter. This is a useful mechanism to keep haters and troublemakers away.

For now, you can join only by invitation if you are an Apple user. Alternatively, you can join a waiting list after downloading the app and wait for an official invitation from someone who is already on Clubhouse.
